The new meioB electric bikes have arrived in the region
They’re called meioB and they’re the new electric bikes for the Médio Tejo region, in the centre of Portugal.
With the new electric bikes it’s now possible to ride around our region in an environmentally friendly way, at affordable prices, enjoying a unique and distinctive mobility experience.
Alcanena, Constância, Entroncamento, Ferreira do Zêzere, Mação, Ourém, Sertã, Tomar, Torres Novas, Vila de Rei and Vila Nova da Barquinha are the municipalities where more than 60 stations of these new electric bikes have been installed.
The president of the CIM Médio Tejo, Manuel Jorge Valamatos, believes that ‘half-B bikes are an innovative solution that allow our citizens to travel for daily routine reasons, such as access to workplaces, public services, shops, among others, but also for leisure and tourism reasons in the region’.
‘CIM Médio Tejo and its municipalities are delighted to be launching this new environmentally friendly transport solution. We’re challenging you to leave your car at home and enjoy a new mobility experience,’ emphasised Manuel Jorge Valamatos.
meioB’s bikes have a range of around 50 kilometres and must be charged at one of the stations throughout the region.
And how can you ride?
It’s very simple! All you have to do is look for a station, unlock one of the available bikes using the meioB app and continue your journey to another station close to your destination.
To unlock the bike, enter the meioB app, scan the QR code and the bike will be unlocked automatically.
To ride the electric bikes, CIM Médio Tejo recommends wearing a helmet.
All the information about this system, conditions and associated tariffs is available at https://meiob.pt/ or via the meioB mobile app, which you can find in stores.
Information billboards are also available throughout the region and you can also find out more about this new system through the Médio Tejo CIM and the 11 municipalities.
This project represented an investment of around 1.5 million euros and was financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Centro 2020 Regional Operational Programme.
